The roofs over our heads are vital to meeting our basic needs, yet most of us never think about the beating a roof takes year after year in Florida’s heat, wind and rain until a problem arises. Unfortunately, at that point, repairs are more costly. If your home’s roof is 10–15 years old, then it’s time to find an experienced roofing contractor with an excellent reputation for quality work – before your roof springs a leak!

Westfall Roofing is one of the most well respected roofing companies in the Tampa Bay area, and has provided roofing services to more than 12,000 satisfied customers over its 24- year history. Serving both residential and commercial clients, Westfall Roofing is a GAF Master Elite Roofer, as well as a Certainteed Shingle Master roofer and an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, a certification awarded to a mere one percent of roofing contractors in North America. And, Westfall Roofing has great reviews on Angie’s List to go along with its A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. The company meets all roofing needs, from new construction to complete removal and replacement of old roofing. Westfall Roofing also installs skylights, gutters, soffit and fascia, as well as attic insulation and is proficient in all types of roofs from simple three-tab asphalt shingles to dimensional, metal, slate and tile, as well as other roof systems such as modified bitumen, Gerard (a stone-coated metal roof), and more.

Westfall Roofing in Carrollwood was founded by Kirk and Maria Westfall in 1989 and is still family-owned and operated by the Westfall Family. Kirk, president, is a Florida licensed building contractor and is very active in every aspect of running the company. Maria is the office manager and the Westfall’s son Ryan is vice president and sales manager, while his wife Anissa is the company’s marketing manager. The “Westfall Roofing family” also includes receptionist/purchaser Angelica Guevara and roof consultant Michael Alvarez, a former U.S. Marine who served in Iraq after enlisting shortly after 9/11. Michael has five years of experience and enjoys helping Westfall’s customers find the best roofing solutions for their needs. This is a family that truly cares about each other, about their business and about making sure they are giving their customers the best quality work at the best price possible.

Meeting with Marketing Director Anissa Westfall, I was impressed with Westfall Roofing’s commitment to putting its customers’ best interests first. “A roof is an investment,” said Anissa. “We want to educate our customers on the ways that they can actually save money when they get a new roof.” Anissa’s blogs on Westfall Roofing’s website (westfallroofing.com) are informative and relevant, covering a variety of topics such as, “How a New Roof Can Save You Money” and “How a Roof Gets Replaced” to “Who’s Afraid of the Big-Brand Roof?” People often turn to big brand stores that offer roofing because they feel like the big name guarantees a good job at a good price, but that isn’t necessarily the case when subcontractors are hired to do the work. Because Kirk is a Florida licensed general contractor, Westfall Roofing offers wind mitigation inspections, which can give homeowners a significant savings on their homeowner’s insurance.

With Westfall Roofing on the job, you will receive quality products, friendly and personable service and lasting satisfaction. There is a Westfall on every Westfall Roofing job. Customers can expect to see Kirk or his brother, production manager Paul Westfall, every day, inspecting every jobsite and making sure that every customer gets the service that Westfall Roofing is known for. “This company is important to us,” explains Anissa. “With 25 years behind us, we don’t take this business lightly. We are professional, quality roofers and Kirk is great – he is very technically knowledgeable and cares about every job. Many times he is out there swinging a hammer himself.”

“I was very impressed with the owner Kirk,” says Westfall Roofing customer Michael Siegel. “He came out to the job almost every day and his brother was here every day supervising. They are very organized and always were a step ahead so that everything was very efficient.” Michael’s roof was 17 years old and was in very poor repair. “My roof is big, 2.7 times the size of the average roof. There was a lot of work to be done; they put the ‘sticky stuff’ down and they replaced six skylights, too. Westfall Roofing did everything as promised; they were very clean and very respectful of my landscaping. Even my lawn guy was impressed because there weren’t any nails left around.”

The “sticky stuff” Mr. Siegel referred to is an upgraded underlayment, which is a peel-and-stick material that helps with wind and provides a second moisture barrier and another layer of protection from hail. There have been other upgrades in roofing materials. Anissa explains, “In the 90s you couldn’t find a shingle with a wind rating over 65 mph and now shingles are rated for up to 130 mph winds.” Attic insulation recommendations have changed as well, and fortunately, Westfall Roofing provides insulation installation to its customers because when the roof is off, it is the perfect opportunity to upgrade to energy-saving R60 insulation, and they are able to get every corner fully covered.

Plan Ahead to Save Money

Ask any roofer and they will tell you that summer is the busiest time of year for them because most people don’t think about replacing their roofing until it leaks, demanding immediate attention. It is no different for Westfall Roofing, and though the company is committed to responding to emergencies and completing every job in a timely manner, Westfall Roofing advises that when possible, it is best to plan ahead to have your roof replaced in the fall or winter. “It’s simple supply and demand,” says Anissa. “In the summertime, the demand for roofing supplies goes up, especially if there is a storm, and that forces the cost of a new roof up.” Plus, if there is a storm and you have damage along with many others, supplies may even run out and suppliers may then provide lesser products just to meet the demand.

Westfall Roofing provides free estimates, so if your roof is older than ten years, you’ve got nothing to lose from getting an expert analysis of your roof’s remaining life. You may even be able to plan ahead for the best possible savings.

Westfall Roofing customer Grace Torres says, “I called two other companies out to give estimates, but when Westfall Roofing came out, they treated me like a family member instead of just another customer or a number. I’ve already recommended them to a couple of people. I was thrilled with their service both before and after the job. Kirk was there every day to check on the workers and to make sure that we were pleased with what was going on.”
