Bill Currie Ford, a longtime local Ford dealership, participated in a big way in Ford’s Great American Tailgate event for the Tampa area on Saturday, September 7. The Bill Currie team, with community generosity, set a goal to fill a Ford F-150 and a vintage Mustang convertible, graciously provided by the Mustang Club of Tampa, with emergency items to help struggling families – they succeeded, collecting 2200 pounds of food. In addition to a food drive in support of Metropolitan Ministries, Bill Currie Ford accepted donations, with a focus on much needed items, such as canned goods, peanut butter, boxed cereal, diapers and toddler Pull-Ups.

Bill Currie Ford, in conjunction with Ford Motor Co., also sponsored Drive 4 UR Community, Ford’s initiative to raise money for local nonprofits through their dealerships. For every test drive taken that day, Ford donated $20 to Metropolitan Ministries. At the end of the day, Bill Currie Ford had 130 test drives, raising $2600!

The Great American Tailgate event featured a variety of family-friendly activities, including bouncy houses for the kids, a football toss, and a dunk tank, as well as a raffle for a 60- inch flat screen TV as the grand prize. Tim Joslin, General Manager at Bill Currie Ford, says, “We have served the Tampa Bay community and the surrounding area for 53 years and feel that it is important that we support the community that has supported us for so long. The current economic conditions require all of us to examine our commitment to one another and to reach out and help where and when we can. To be able to sponsor a food drive in support of Metropolitan Ministries’ “Biggest Food Drive Ever” Campaign is a significant way for Bill Currie Ford to show that we do care and that we are here to help those that have come upon hard times in Tampa.”
